Is it okay to wash dyed clothing with other laundry?
It is recommended to wash dyed fabrics at least three times separately before washing with your other laundry as the dye could bleed a little during the first few washes.
What kind of laundry detergent should I use to wash my tie-dyed fabric?
Use only detergent that doesn’t have color bleach OR fabric softener to wash a newly dyed fabric. Both fabric softener and color bleaching will pull the dye from the fabric, causing it to fade.

It’s important to wash fabric to remove the sizing (a product that keeps the fabric stiff and minimizes wrinkles), as sizing can block absorption of the dye pigment. You should wait at least 24 hours for the dye to set into the fabric. The longer you let the dye set the more vibrant the colors will be.
