About Creator

I am a 20-year-old student at Shepherd University studying communications and journalism. In addition to my studies I play for the women’s soccer team for the university. Since beginning my college journey, balancing school and athletics, crafts have become a big stress reliever for me. I make friendship bracelets with elaborate patterns, and when it is nice outside, I tie-dye.

Me in tie-dye

I have been perfecting the craft for years. I began when I was in first or second grade and have been at it ever since. I am so thankful to have parents who support my craftiness because the tie-dye was NOT pretty at first, but I consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist and would not stop until it was perfect. My parents would buy me t-shirts and kits and would also let me dye their shirts. It wasn’t until I was in highschool that I finally found my groove and had a way to make the fabric look top notch.

I tie-dye for my neighbors, the men that work for my dad’s company where they now have tie-dye Friday and wear the shirts, along with my friends and anyone else who needs some color in their life.

My biggest piece of advice I could give to anyone is to never give up and to understand that no two shirts will be perfect. Tie-dying is a learning experience and you will only get better with time. My friends who tie-dye with me get frustrated when their piece doesn’t turn out perfect the first time but they don’t understand that it takes time and maybe several Youtube videos to make sense of it all.

I hope that this website gives you all the tips and tricks that you need along with inspiration and answers to your questions.
